Nov. 28, 2015
My Day sponsored the exhibition match between Grigor Dimitrov and one of the most attractive players on the ATP Tour – the French Gael Monfils. The best Bulgarian tennis player returned to his native audience to pay attention to our youngest tennis talents and demonstrated great game against his opponent. As a warm-up before the match, the top Bulgarian tennis player held an open charity lesson with the best children of Bulgarian tennis. The children chosen for this lesson were between 20 and 40 according to their classification in the national ranking list.

Shortly thereafter began the entertaining match in format best 2 of 3 sets. Gael Monfils demonstrated good mood from the first point, while the Bulgarian star had minor difficulties in the beginning of the game,  but he still won the first set with 6-3. In the second set Monfils and Grigor made a real show, which included jumping over the net into the opponent’s field and help from the audience. After several twists and turns, the Bulgarian won the second set with 6-4.

After the end of the race, the Bulgarian could not hide his excitement of the game on home soil: “ Thanks to everyone who came to support me. It was an exciting experience to play in front of Bulgarian audience. I wish for the next season to go as planned. I have never left you, I thank all of you who spent entire nights without sleep to watch my games”. The excited Grigor Dimitrov also added: “I wanted this game to happen and to get out on this court, which was ready a few hours before. It was wonderful, thank you all for coming. Let's hope that soon I will be back here, playing in front of my home audience”. The World #19 did not restrain his tears as the audience applauded him, standing on their feet and chanting his name.
